Translating the Sentinel LDK-EMS User Interface

This section describes how to translate the Sentinel LDK-EMS user interface into other languages.

Sentinel LDK-EMS User Interface Localization File

The localization mechanism uses a localization file for each language. The name of the English localization file is messages.properties. The name of the localization file for each additional language is messages_languageCode.properties, where languageCode is the two character language code (based on ISO 639-1) for your target language. For example, for German, the file name is: messages_de.properties.

NOTE   Localization support is provided for the following locales: ar, ca, cs, da, de, de_de, el, en, en_au, en_ca, en_gb, en_us, es, es_es, fi, fr, he, hu, it, it_it, ja, ja_jp, ko, ko_kr, nb, nl, pl, pt, pt_br, pt_pt, ru, sk, sl, sv, th, tr, zh, zh_cn, zh_tw.

To prepare a localization file:

1.For each target language, create a copy of messages.properties in the same directory and rename it to messages_languageCode.properties. Localized properties files must be stored in the same directory as the original messages.properties file. Properties files are located in:

%EMS_HOME%\EMSServer\webapps\ems\WEB-INF\classes

2.In messages_languageCode.properties, translate each text string into the target language. The text string is the text following the = character, for example, Key=textString.

NOTE   Do not modify the original key values.
Comment lines begin with # and are ignored.

3.Save the modified file with UTF-8 encoding.

4.In the same directory:

a.For each target language, create a new subdirectory called languageCode. For example, for German, create a de subdirectory.

b.Copy the following files from the main directory to the new subdirectory:

ContactCertificate21.tpl

ContactCertificateEmail21.tpl

EntitlementCertificate21.tpl

EntitlementCertificateAttachment21.tpl

EntitlementCertificateEmail.tpl

LicenseCertificate21.tpl

LicenseCertificateEmail.tpl

c.In each .tpl file, translate the text strings into your target language.

d.For each target language, in the Sentinel LDK-EMS database, add a database entry using following query:

INSERT INTO [EMS2_0].[dbo].[T_LOCALES] ([LocaleName] ,[LocaleCode] ,[IsvSupported] ,[EndUserSupported] ,[DistributorSupported] ,[CountryCode] ,[VersionCode] ,[VersionId]
           ,[LocaleNativeName]) VALUES (
            'German',     {Name of the language} 'de',     {Language code}   1,   1,   0, 'DE', '1.0.0',   1,             'Deutsch'      {Name of language as it should
appear on the link on Sentinel LDK-EMS web pages.}            )

5.Restart the Sentinel LDK-EMS Service. In each screen in Sentinel LDK-EMS, a language link appears at the bottom of the screen. Users can click this link to select an available language.

Selecting a Display Language

In Sentinel LDK-EMS, each user can select the preferred display language from the links at the bottom of the screen. The selected language remains in effect until the user selects a different language or clears the web browser cache.

Determining the Default Display Language for End Users in the Customer Portal

The language displayed in the Customer Portal is determined by the location assigned to the contact person. If an available localization file matches the contact’s locale, the appropriate language is displayed in the Customer Portal.
