Installation and Upgrade

This section describes how to install or upgrade the Run-time Environment.

NOTE    Given the following circumstances:

>You are installing or upgrading the Run-time Environment on the customer's machine.

> You want a placeholder for new SL keys for the relevant Batch Code to appear at the top of the Sentinel Keys page in Admin Control Center.

Distribute your current custom Vendor library along with the Run-time Environment installer.

Installing the Run-time Environment

>For command-line help, enter: haspdinst.exe -?

>When the command haspdinst.exe -i is executed: Immediately after the Run-time Environment is installed or upgraded, any V2C file contained in the same folder is applied to the relevant protection key on the machine.

>A log file of the installation process is written to aksdrvsetup.log in the Windows directory.

NOTE   By default, Windows displays a User Account Control message during driver installation. Users must click Continue to continue the installation. Alternatively, users can change the default setting from the Control Panel of their operating system.

Upgrading the Run-time Environment

>When upgrading the Run-time Environment, ensure that it is not currently being accessed (for example: by closing all applications). Although the installation program can terminate applications that are accessing the Run-time, it cannot terminate running services.

>For Sentinel LDK 6.0 through 8.3 (with Sentinel LDK-EMS): To upgrade the Run-time Environment Installer that is generated by Sentinel LDK-EMS (using the Developer > RTE Installer option), overwrite the haspdinst.exe file in %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Thales\Sentinel EMS\EMSServer\webapps\ems\haspTools\ with the file in this package. (For Win32 systems, go to %ProgramFiles%\...)

>If you are running HASP License Manager (HASP4 and HASP HL legacy License Manager) as a service, you must stop the License Manager before proceeding with the installation.
