Sentinel EMS Service Customizations

Sentinel EMS 1.5 (for Sentinel EMS 5.1) is available as a hosted service. Certain features in Sentinel EMS can be customized according to your requirements. The following features are available for customization:

>License Attribute Customizations

> ID Generator Customizations

> Outbound Service Customization

> Additional Customizations

NOTE   To implement the customization services listed here, you can connect to Gemalto Professional Services.

License Attribute Customizations

License attributes define a license model and are a part of entitlement and activation details. These license attributes can be customized in Sentinel EMS.

ID Generator Customizations

Sentinel EMS uses a automatic ID generator for some entities such as, entitlements, activations, customers, and channel partners. The default format of generating these IDs is predefined based on the entity. However, these formats can be customized according to your requirements. You can customize:

>Entitlement ID (EID) used to identity entitlements

>Activation ID (AID) used to identity activations

>Customer ID used to identity customers

>Channel Partner ID used to identity channel partners

Outbound Service Customization

Outbound services allow creating customized functions that are called when events such as activating an entitlement are triggered.

Additional Customizations

In addition to the above, the following customizations are also available

>Translating the Sentinel EMS User Interface: Localization of the Sentinel EMS user interface. This means that Sentinel EMS can be customized to enable supported language packs.

>Customizing Emails: The following can be customized for the emails in Sentinel EMS:

When you perform certain activities in Sentinel EMS (such as creating or activating entitlements), Sentinel EMS sends out emails to users, customers, or channel partners, as required by the activity. These emails have a default template that controls the email content and its appearance. These templates can be customized as required.

The layout and content of the notification emails are defined using templates These template files are customizable so the format and content of the notification emails can be changed to suit your requirements. You can specify what information to include in the notification email and how to style the information. For example, you can change the font size or font color of text elements, change a paragraph to a table, or include additional information such as logo, copyright text, or a personalized message.

The subject line for contact, entitlement, and license certificates can be customized.

>Configuring SSL Certificate Obtained from CA: Certification Authority (CA) is an entity that issues digital certificates. To work with HTTPS, an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate from a certificate authority is required. An SSL certificate is a digital certificate that authenticates the identity of a web site to visiting web browsers and encrypts information for the server using SSL technology. Sentinel EMS uses a default SSL certificate. However, each user’s web browser will generate a security exception with this certificate each time the user logs in. You can purchase an SSL certificate from a certificate authority and get it configured with Sentinel EMS.

>Customizing the User Registration Page: While creating an entitlement, if you specify that user registration is mandatory or desired then the end user will see a registration page when after logging in to Sentinel EMS using EID to activate the products and suites. Sentinel EMS provides a default user registration page to accept user registration details. This registration page can be customized as required.

>Customizing the GUI: The look and feel of Sentinel EMS web application is based on centralized Graphical User Interface (GUI) themes, which define the font, logos, images, and colors used in the web pages. You can add new GUI themes to the system or customize the existing GUI themes in Sentinel EMS.

>Export Compliance for Software Download: Software publishers all over the world deliver applications in form of software downloads. Various countries have framed policies regulating export of software. These policies are intended to enhance security and limit the proliferation of software from restricted sources. Software publishers willing to sell their software in such entities must conform to these laws to avoid legal implications. Enforcement of software export policies is known as export compliance. Sentinel EMS ensures that software vendors and channel partners providing downloads with their product offerings are also able to enforce export compliance for their end customers.

>SSO Integration with Sentinel EMS: Single Sign On (SSO) enables a user to log in once and gain access to multiple systems without being prompted to log in again to each of them. The outbound customization services enables the integration of Sentinel EMS with SSO systems.

>Customizations to Enable Device Locking: Device Name in Sentinel EMS is the friendly representation of the locking information of a device. You can assign a device-friendly name to locking information, which can then be used to perform activation. Locking information comprises the locking criteria and the locking value and is generally difficult to remember. Assigning a device-friendly name to the locking information makes it easier to remember and identify it. Therefore it makes it easier to connect to the device whenever you need to activate a license for it. Device Name enables vendors to view all activations of a device.

Sentinel EMS allows you to enable device locking. The options to provide device locking information during activation is available on the Sentinel EMS portal only after the device has been enabled. Device locking is license-model-specific. This means that device locking can be enabled for targeted license models and are only available for them.
