Usage Data Processing and Reports

The raw usage data collected by SCC is processed and aggregated to make it suitable for various out-of-the-box reports that are available via Sentinel EMS. Aggregation is a process of combining records with similar characteristics, making it easier for you to process and present them in reports.

Sentinel EMS provides you with the ability to generate reports based on either raw or aggregated usage data. Most of the reports are generated in tabular (text-based) format. In addition, where relevant, each report includes a graphical presentation of the data, in either pie chart or bar chart format.

Note the following important points regarding the reports:

>Some reports present information based on raw usage data and some on aggregated usage data.

>All the usage reports are based on license consumption and not on sales data.

Usage Data Reports

Following are some raw usage data reports:

Feature Usage Report: Displays the total usage count per feature, across all users selected or all products.
Granular Usage Transactions: Displays all the records that make up a session. For example, if in a session you called the login function (once), refresh function (8 times), and finally the logout function (once), then 10 usage records are presented in this report.
Peak Concurrency Report: Reports the maximum concurrency achieved for a feature during a given time period across one or all customer entitlements. Peak Concurrency is based on the feature-level integer value specified by an application at run-time, as a parameter of the Login API.
Product Usage Report: Displays the total usage count per feature, grouped by product, for each end user.
Raw Usage Report:

Retrieves the raw usage data. This report provides customer details, entitlement, products, features, users, usage type, vendor data, and client machine's host address. All usage records for the given report dates are included.

Usage Data Tampering Report Shows the usage tampering details for the customer specified.
User Usage Report: Displays the total usage count per feature for each user of a given customer.
Vendor Usage Data Report: Displays usage data grouped by vendor's details for a given customer and duration. For example, you can use this report to filter usage data based on a user's role, region, or department. This report is generated based on the vendor-specific information specified at run-time during the Login call.

Aggregated Usage Data Reports

Following are some aggregated usage data reports available in Sentinel EMS:

>Usage Data: Displays details, such as feature name, start and end dates, usage count, and usage time for the selected product.

NOTE   You can view usage of an entitlement only after Data Engine aggregation.

>Billing Data: Displays the billing data for all the products included in an entitlement. Billing types include:

Brief Billing: A brief summary of the products consumed within a specified period.

Detailed Billing: A less descriptive bill than the itemized bill. Provides consumption details for each feature.

Itemized Billing: A descriptive bill that provides consumption details for a product for each feature and each customer.
