Defining Entitlement Type and Other Details
You define the entitlement type while creating or editing an entitlement. For details on how to create an entitlement, see Creating an Entitlement.
Hardware Key
This option enables you to write (burn) the Entitlement details to the connected Sentinel HL key. If you select this, the following field appears:
Number of Keys: Enter the total number of Sentinel HL keys to which the Entitlement is to be written.
Specify the Entitlement details, depending on whether the Entitlement relates to Product Keys, Sentinel HL keys, or license updates for existing Sentinel protection keys.
Product Key
Select this option to associate the Entitlement details with one or more Product Keys. When you select this, the following fields appear:
>Number of Product Keys: Enter the total number of Product Keys to be produced for this Entitlement.
NOTE If you plan to use Produce & Push to produce the entitlement and push it to the cloud license manager server, set the number to 1.
>Activations per Product Key: Enter the number of activations to be available on each Product Key, that is, the number of machines on which each Product Key can be used. For example, if you want each Product Key to be used on a maximum of three machines, enter 3 in this field.
NOTE If you plan to use Produce & Push to produce the entitlement and push it to the cloud license manager server, set the number to 1.
Select the Unlimited check box only if your software (for example, an API or SDK) is integrated in a third-party product, and you want to deliver a single product key to that vendor. For each billing period, you would then generate a report listing the number of times that product key was used to activate licenses and bill that vendor accordingly. For details on this alternative monetization strategy, see the section on unlimited activations for integrators in the Sentinel LDK Software Protection and Licensing Guide .
>Prompt for Confirmation: Select this option if, when installing the V2C or V2CP file, you want to automatically prompt the Customer to return a C2V file to the vendor.
>User Registration: Specify whether end user registration is required.
•Mandatory: When the end user logs on using a Product Key, the user must provide registration information once before proceeding. After successful registration, end users only need to enter their e-mail address to proceed.
•Desired: The end user is prompted to provide registration information, but can select to register later.
•Not Required: The user registration page is not displayed.
Protection Key Update
Updates existing license details stored in Sentinel protection keys already deployed in the field. If you select Protection Key Update:
1.Click Locate. The Locate Sentinel Keys dialog box opens. For details, see Locating Sentinel Protection Keys for the Entitlement.
NOTE The Locate Sentinel Keys dialog box displays the total number of Sentinel protection keys selected for the Entitlement. You cannot select more keys than you specified as the total number of keys to which to write this Entitlement. You can add the Entitlement to the production queue or produce it only when the number of selected keys is equal to the number that is specified for the Entitlement.
2.Select the specific Sentinel protection keys to be updated in this Entitlement.
NOTE If you plan to use Produce & Push for this entitlement, select only one key.
3.If you select Prompt for Confirmation, then while installing the V2C or V2CP file the Customer will be automatically prompted to return a C2V file to the vendor.
