Producing a Protection Key Update File for an Entitlement
You can generate files containing the Protection Key Update information for an Entitlement. A separate file is generated for each Sentinel protection key that is to be updated.
To produce the Protection Key Update file:
1.In the Entitlements page (Entitlements > Entitlements), select the Entitlement to update.
2. Click 
and select Produce. The Generate License dialog box opens.
The Order Details pane displays the following information:
| Customer | Name of the Customer for whom the key is being burned. |
| E-mail address of the Customer. | |
| Activations | The number of Sentinel HL keys ordered. |
| Remaining Activations | The number of Sentinel HL keys remaining to be produced. |
| Ref ID 1, Ref ID 2 | Information that identifies the order in a different system, for example, an order code in your company's ERP system. |
| Entitlement Comments | Text information related to the production of this Entitlement. |
| Products | All Products available in the order and their Locking Types are listed in a table. |
In the Activation Details pane, the license output type is listed as V2C or V2CP, depending on the file format specified by the administrator for the Use V2CP File Format setting in the License Configuration section of the Administrator Console. For details, see the Sentinel LDK-EMS Configuration Guide.
3.(Optional) Select Clear key before applying updates to cancel all existing Products and Features in a key before the update is applied. This is useful, for example, if Features or Products have been discontinued.
NOTE
>This option does not clear data from the key memory.
>If your update contains a Modification Product of an existing Product in the key, the Product is not canceled and will be modified instead.
4.(Optional) Select Send Email to send a notification email containing the V2C or V2CP file to the contact listed above. Ensure that the SMTP settings are configured in the Administration Console. For details, see the Outgoing E-mail Server Settings section in the Sentinel LDK-EMS Configuration Guide.
5.Click Generate. A V2C or V2CP file is generated. This file can be used with the RUS utility (Sentinel Remote Update System) to apply the license on the end user machine.
6.In the Activation Details pane, click the link in the Download column.
NOTE If there are more than 500 rows, the result is displayed across multiple pages (with a 500-per-page limit). Each page contains a Download All V2C Files link. On clicking this, only the V2C files for that page are downloaded. To download all V2C or V2CP files, click the links in all of the pages.
7.Save the downloaded files. By default, the name of each file includes the key ID for the Sentinel protection key that is to be updated. The status of the Entitlement changes to Completed in the Entitlements page.
