Prerequisites
Scenario
NOTE The scenario discussed in this guide is applicable for a single Sentinel enforcement technology, for example, Sentinel RMS or Sentinel LDK. For concepts related to other enforcements or a mix of enforcements, refer to the Sentinel EMS User Guide (All Enforcements—Sentinel RMS, Sentinel LDK, Sentinel Fit, Services, and Third-Parties | Sentinel LDK).
As an administrator, our requirement is to create a product named Printer-Scanner that will contain two features named Print and Scan with Trial Standalone and Trial Standalone Node Locked license models. We will create a basic entitlement using a product and then activate the product.
NOTE In Sentinel LDK, license models are associated with products and not with features. For the scenario discussed in this guide, set the Associate Default License Model property in Administration Console to Yes. By setting this property to Yes, you do not need to explicitly associate license models with products. The Perpetual license model will be associated with every product by default. You can override the default license model if required.
In order to define an entitlement, some resources should already be present in your Sentinel EMS instance. Following is a list of resources that are required before defining an entitlement:
>Predefined license models
>Namespace (the workspace to contain catalog items, such as features, memory files, and products)
>Features
>Memory files (relevant only for Sentinel LDK)
>Products with defined features (and, optionally, memory files in case of Sentinel LDK)
>Contacts and customers
To fulfill the scenario defined above, you will have to:
1.Create a namespace, Zone-A.
NOTE For Sentinel LDK, skip this step and use the predefined namespace.
2.Create features, Print and Scan. Both the features should be of license model type - Trial Standalone and Trial Standalone Node Locked. Trial Standalone should be marked as the default license model.
NOTE For Sentinel LDK, the license model association with features is not relevant.
3.Create a product, Printer-Scanner, to include both the features defined above.
NOTE In Sentinel LDK, in addition to features, you can also associate memory files with a product. Association of features and memory files is optional for Sentinel LDK products. For the purpose of this guide, you will create the TestFile memory file and associate it with the product.
4.Create a contact, TestContact, and a customer, TestSoftware.
5.Create an entitlement with Printer-Scanner as the line item.
6.Activate the entitlement.
The table given below summarizes the resources and parameters being used in the scenario:
