Configuring Detachable Licenses

Use this page to configure the default settings for detachable licenses.

To access this page:

From the navigation pane, go to the Configuration page > Detachable Licenses tab.

To apply changes in this page:

Click Submit.

To restore factory defaults for this page:

click Set Defaults and then click Submit.

Detachable License Criteria

The criteria described in this section can be specified.

On-Demand Detaching of Licenses

The following setting are applicable for on-demand detaching of licenses:

Option	Description
Enabled	When selected, enables Products for which detachable licenses have been defined to be manually detached from a host machine and temporarily attached to a recipient machine. For more information about detachable licenses, refer to Working with Detachable Licenses in the Sentinel LDK-EMS help documentation. When you enable detaching of licenses, you can prevent administrators from detaching a Product offline. This prevents a situation where an administrator detaches a Product to a machine that no longer exists. Add the following line to the hasplm.ini file: `disable_offline_detach = 1`
Maximum Duration	Specify the maximum number of days that a detachable license may be detached from the network pool of a Sentinel SL key. When setting the number of days to detach a license for an individual Product, you cannot specify a number greater than this value.

When selected, enables Products for which detachable licenses have been defined to be manually detached from a host machine and temporarily attached to a recipient machine. For more information about detachable licenses, refer to Working with Detachable Licenses in the Sentinel LDK-EMS help documentation.

When you enable detaching of licenses, you can prevent administrators from detaching a Product offline. This prevents a situation where an administrator detaches a Product to a machine that no longer exists. Add the following line to the hasplm.ini file:

disable_offline_detach = 1

Maximum Duration

Specify the maximum number of days that a detachable license may be detached from the network pool of a Sentinel SL key. When setting the number of days to detach a license for an individual Product, you cannot specify a number greater than this value.

Automatic Detaching of Licenses

The following setting are applicable for automatic detaching of licenses:

Option	Description
Enabled	When selected, enables a client machine to automatically detach a license for a protected application from the license server machine whenever a license is required. The client machine retains the license up to the number of hours specified even if the connection to the license server is interrupted. This enables the protected application to continue to operate without connection to the license server machine.
Allowed Offline Duration	The detached license is initially set to expire after the specified number of hours. The license is renewed periodically when the client machine is able to connect to the SL key on the license server machine. For more information, see Detaching Licenses - Overview.

Common Detach Settings

The following setting are applicable for both on-demand detaching and automatic detaching of licenses:

Reserved Licenses	Enables you to specify default values for the maximum number of licenses that can be concurrently detached from the network pool of a Sentinel SL key on the host machine. These values are applied to all Products that have not been individually configured. 1.Specify the number of licenses that must remain in reserve in the network pool of a Sentinel SL key on the host machine. 2.In the but at least...% of total licenses field, specify the percentage of licenses that must remain in reserve in the network pool of a Sentinel SL key on the host machine. Note: You can specify values for either or both of the above values. If both values are specified, the License Manager will apply whichever value holds the greater number of licenses in reserve.
Per Product Settings	The settings on this page apply to all Products. Click the Configure button to display a page that enables you to specify certain license detaching values for individual Products.
