Configuring Access to Remote License Managers

Use this page to define the address of the machine that hosts the Sentinel License Manager to which you want this client to connect, and to define how and where searches for Sentinel License Managers may be performed.

NOTE   Under Windows, the method required to enable access from a protected application to a License Manager that is located on a different subnet is dependent on the version of Sentinel HASP or Sentinel LDK that was used to protect the application. To determine this information, examine the application documentation or contact the software vendor for the application.

For more information regarding communication with remote License Managers, see Sentinel LDK Software Protection and Licensing Guide (for Sentinel EMS or Sentinel LDK-EMS).

To access this configuration page:

From the navigation pane, go to the Configuration page > Access to Remote License Managers tab.

To apply changes in this page:

Click Submit.

To restore factory defaults for this page:

Click Set Defaults and then click Submit.

Parameters for Access to Remote License Managers

The following criteria can be specified:

Option Description
Allow Access to Remote Licenses

When selected, enables the following to search for a license in remote Sentinel License Managers:

> The License Manager executing on this machine.

> Any application that executes on this machine if the application uses a client identity that was installed in Admin Control Center.

This option does not allow access to remote licenses for the following:

>An application that doesn't use a client identity.

>An application that uses a client identity if the identity was installed in Admin Control Center.

Note: When selecting this option, you must also:

>Select Broadcast Search for Remote Licenses.

OR

>Provide values in Remote License Search Parameters.

or both.

Broadcast Search for Remote Licenses

When selected, enables the License Manager executing on this machine to search for a license in remote Sentinel License Managers on the local network via broadcasts.

If this check box is not selected, every machine on the local network that is to be searched must be specified in the Remote License Search Parameters field.

Remote License Search Parameters

Defines the specific machines that may be searched by this machine for remote Sentinel License Managers.

Note: You must provide this information if you have not selected the Broadcast Search for Remote Licenses check box.

Specify machines as follows:

>Specify data as IP addresses (for example, 10.1.1.17), Broadcast addresses (for example, 10.1.1.255), or machine names (for example, hklm001.ecomp.com)

>When using the IPv6 protocol, use the IPv6 address format. For example, type FF02::1 to access all remote Sentinel License Managers that are part of the default local group defined in the IPv6 subnet.

Each entry must be on a separate line.

When working with cloud licensing, this field may also contain one or more identity strings. For details, see Identity String Syntax.
