Adding a Client Identity

Use this page to create a new client identity. You can also copy the identity string of the client identity to the clipboard to provide it to the relevant person or entity.

NOTE   If the license server machine contains only DEMOMA SL AdminMode keys, you can create a maximum of 10 client identities for the machine. If the license server machine contains at least one SL AdminMode key for a Batch Code other than DEMOMA, you can create an unlimited number of client identities for licenses on the machine.

To add a client identity:

1.From the navigation pane, go to the Configuration page > Client Identities tab.

2.Click Add Client Identity. The Add Client Identity page is displayed.

3.Provide values for the following parameters:

Parameter Description
Issued to

Name of the person or entity for which the identity string was generated.

Allow Remote Login Access

Select or clear this check box to indicate whether a remote machine with the identity string should be allowed to consume a license from the license server machine.

Allow Remote Detach Access

Select or clear this check box to indicate whether a remote machine with the identity string should be allowed to detach a license from the license server machine. This applies to both on-demand detaching and automatic detaching of licenses.

Allow Concurrency for Detached Licenses

(Only available when Allow Remote Detach Access is selected) Select or clear this check box to indicate whether a remote machine with the identity string should be able to detach one or more seats with concurrency from the license server machine. For more information, see Detaching Licenses With Concurrency.

Limit to

Specify the Key IDs of one or more protection keys installed on the license server machine. A remote machine with the identity string can only access licenses from those protection keys. If you specify * (asterisk), the remote machine can access licenses from any protection key located on the license server machine.

Maximum Number of Auto-registered Machines

Select one of the following:

> Select Unlimited. An unlimited number of remote machines are allowed to use the identity string to access the license server machine. The machines will not be registered.

> Select the maximum number of remote machines that are allowed to use this identity string to access the license server machine. Each machine will be automatically registered the first time it accesses the license server machine. When the maximum number of machines are registered, no additional machines can use this identity string.

Click View to view and manage the list of registered machines.

Expiration Date

Optional. Date on which the client identity expires. If Never Expires is selected, the client identity does not expire.

To set an expiration date:

a.Clear the Never Expires check box.

b.Click the calendar icon to display a calendar. Use the calendar to select the expiration date

OR

In the Days field, specify the number of days the client identity should remain active.

If you set an expiration date for the client identity, the selected date cannot exceed the expiration date of the cloud-enabled SL license.

When using a second-level license server with a detached license: The expiration date for the detached license cannot exceed the expiration date of the cloud-enabled SL license or of the client identity on the second-level license server.

NOTE   : Each time that you add or edit a client identity, the values that are selected for Allow Remote Login Access, Allow Remote Detach Access, and Maximum Number of Autoregistered Machines become the default values for the next time that you add an additional client identity.

4.To distribute the identity string to the relevant person or entity, click Copy Identity String or Copy as URL. For details, see Distributing an Identity String.

You can also distribute the identity string later from the Edit Client Identity page.
