Viewing and Managing Client Identities

NOTE    This page is only applicable when cloud licensing is enabled.

You can use the Client Identities tab on the Admin Control Center Configuration page to do the following:

>View all existing clients and identity strings. Search for specific clients or identity strings.

>Create, enable, disable, and delete clients.

>Edit parameters for a client identity. Copy the identity string so that you can provide it to end users.

>View all registered machines for a client identity. Delete individual machines or all machines for a client identity.

To view or manage client identities on the license server machine:

From the navigation pane, go to the Configuration page > Client Identities tab.

Client Identity Parameters

The following client identity parameters are displayed:

Column Description
Issued to

Name of the person or entity for which the client identity was generated.

Identity Code

A unique 7-character identity code. The identity code is part of the full identity string that must be provided to remote machines so that they can access the license server machine. The full identity string (if accessible) is available from the Edit Client Identity page.

Limit to

IDs of one or more protection keys (if any were specified) from which machines with the identity string can consume a license.

Login

Whether a remote machine with the identity string has permission to log in to a license on the license server machine.

Detach

Whether a remote machine with the identity string has permission to detach a license from the license server machine. This is relevant both for on-demand detaching and automatic detaching of licenses.

Machine Limit

(Only relevant if a maximum number of machines was defined for the client identity) Contains a value in the format xx/yy, where:

>xx = Number of remote machine currently registered to use the identity string.

>yy = Maximum number of machines that can be registered to use the identity string.

Creation Date

Date when the client identity was defined.

Expiration Date Date when the client identity expires.
Status Current status of the client identity.
Actions

You can perform any of the following actions for the client identity:

>Edit: Perform any of the following actions:

Modify parameters for the client identity

View and copy the identity string.

View and modify the list of machines that have been registered to use the identity string.

>Disable: Disable the client identity. If disabled, the identity string cannot be used to consume or detach a license. Licenses that are currently detached remain valid until they expire. For a disabled client identity, the action Enable is displayed. You can click Enable to enable a disabled client identity.

>Delete: Delete the client identity. Remote machines will no longer be able to use the identity string to consume or detach a license. Licenses that are currently detached remain valid until they expire.

Additional Actions

The following additional actions are available at the top of the page:

Action Description
Search

Enter a partial or complete value for Identity Code or Issued to in the search field and click Search to locate the desired entry in the table.

Note:

>The Client Identities page is refreshed every 30 seconds. If you are entering a search string when the page refreshes, your string is erased and you need to re-enter it.

>After performing a search: To redisplay the unfiltered data, clear the search field and click Search.

Add Client Identity

Click this action to create a client identity for a new person or entity.
