Connecting to the Server
NOTE Connecting to the server is not currently supported when working with Sentinel EMS. Sentinel LDK Envelope always operates in Offline mode.
You use the Log In to Sentinel EMS screen or Log In to the Sentinel LDK-EMS screen to control the mode of operation for Envelope and, if relevant, the server to work with.
The Log In to screen is displayed when:
> You start Sentinel LDK Envelope. (The Log In screen is displayed if the connection option Display Login dialog at startup is selected on the General tab in the Settings dialog box.).
>You click the provided link in the message bar:
The message bar appears at the bottom of the Sentinel LDK Envelope window when you are not connected to the server. (Click the "X" on the right of the message bar to close it. The message bar can be suppressed from the General tab in the Settings dialog box. Select the connection option Disable Online Mode.)
NOTE If you did not see the Log In screen when you started Envelope, and the message bar is not displayed: Select the connection option Display Offline Mode Message on the General tab in the Settings dialog box. The message bar appears at the bottom of the Sentinel LDK Envelope window
Modes of Operation
You can use Sentinel LDK Envelope in the following modes of operation:
>Work online. When working online, Envelope is connected to Sentinel EMS Server or Sentinel LDK-EMS Server. The advantages of working online are:
•Vendor Codes. When you need to select the Vendor Code in the Sentinel Vendor Code screen, Envelope retrieves a list of the available Vendor Codes from the Server. You can choose a Vendor Code from the list.
•Feature Names. When you must choose a Feature in the Protection Details screen, Envelope retrieves a list of the Features that were defined for the selected Vendor Code. You can choose a Feature from the list.
To work online, you must provide credentials to log in to the Server with administrator rights, as described below.
>Work offline. When working offline, Envelope is not connected to the Sentinel EMS Server or Sentinel LDK-EMS Server. As a result:
•When vendor codes are required, you must manually browse to a location that contains a Vendor Codes file.
•When a Feature ID is required, you must provide the number of the Feature ID. Your entry is not validated.
To work offline, click Work Offline. You do not require credentials to work with Envelope and you do not require a connection to the Server.
