lslic - Installs/Deletes a License Code
The lslic utility can be used to add non-redundant license codes to the license file (lservrc) and redundant license codes to the redundant license configuration file (lservrlf), depending on which options are used.
lslic can be run on supported version of Windows and UNIX. It can be run from the operating system command prompt by an administrative user on a standalone, client, or License Manager computer. It works for both standalone and network computers.
Use lslic in the following format:
lslic [option]
Option | Description |
---|---|
Adds license to the License Manager memory only - Change is temporary and valid until the License Manager is restarted. |
|
-a <license code> |
Temporarily adds a license code (the string of characters given to you by your software vendor) to the contacted License Manager's memory without updating the license file. In the case of redundant License Managers, the license is added in the memory of all the License Managers. On the License Manager restart, the added license is no longer available. |
-f < filename> |
Adds all the license codes provided in the supplied file (file given to you by your software vendor) to the contacted License Manager's memory, without updating the license file on the License Manager. In the case of redundant License Managers, the licenses are added in the memory of all the License Managers. On the License Manager restart, the added licenses are no longer available. |
Adds license to both the License Manager and non-redundant/redundant license file - Change is permanent |
|
-A <license code> |
Adds the license code (the string of characters given to you by your software vendor) to the contacted License Manager. Also, adds it to the License Manager’s license file (lservrc or lservrlf). In the case of redundant License Managers, the updated license code is synchronized amongst all the License Managers. |
-F < filename> |
Adds all the license codes provided in the supplied file (file given to you by your software vendor) to the contacted License Manager's memory as well as the license file (lservrc or lservrlf). In the case of redundant License Managers, the updated license code is synchronized amongst all the License Managers. |
Removes license from the License Manager only - Temporary change |
|
-df <feature name> < feature version >[capacity | NOLIMIT] |
License(s) with specified feature name and version are temporarily deleted from the License Manager memory. NOTE Note that all the licenses (redundant and non-redundant) for the given feature-version are removed, and not a single license. In the case of redundant License Managers, this change is synchronized in the memory of all the License Managers. On the License Manager restart, the memory is replenished with the deleted licenses. |
-removeall |
Temporarily removes all license codes (redundant and non-redundant), of all the features-versions, from the License Manager memory but does not delete them form the license file. On the License Manager restart, the memory is replenished with the deleted licenses. |
-removeallcap [feature version] |
Temporarily removes capacities associated with licenses of the given feature-version, but does not delete them from the license file. On the License Manager restart, the same capacities are restored. |
Removes license from both the License Manager and license file - Change is permanent |
|
-DL <feature name> |
License with specified feature, version, and license hash is deleted from both the License Manager memory and file. NOTE
|
Set the trial license precedence |
|
-p <feature name> |
Sets the precedence of a trial license. The license hash can be obtained from WlmAdmin or lsmon. |
Pauses the lslic utility |
|
-P |
Pauses the utility and then shows the output in another console. Only for Windows Vista, 7, 8 (Desktop mode), Server 2008, and 2012. |
>If you do not include necessary information on the command line, lslic will ask for the missing information.
>You must set the LSFORCEHOST environment variable to the host name of the computer running the License Manager on which you want to perform lslic options.
>When you enter a license code, if you are entering an encrypted license code, type only the characters before the # symbol.
>lslic can add or delete licenses without stopping and restarting the License Manager, but the change is only temporary unless you use an option that makes the change to the license file.
>If you are using lslic to modify a license file on a computer, you must have write-access to that computer.
>License deletion is not supported for the following licenses:
•Checked out commuter license tokens residing on the local computers
•Grace licenses being used on the non-networked computers
•Licenses in the redundant license files (lservrlf)
