Deleting Processed Usage Data on Source Machine

Over time, usage data accumulates on the source machine. The Sentinel RMS standalone client application or License Manager periodically cleans usage data files one by one (depending on the acknowledgment status). This is a sequential process and cannot be configured. To clean all usage data on the source machine in a single step, the C sample, sntl_process_ack is provided. This sample deletes usage data and not acknowledgment data.

Deleting Usage Data Using C Sample (optional)

In the Sentinel RMS v9.7, the C sample sntl_process_ack has been provided inside the samples directory within the RMS installation directory. This sample is used for deleting usage data. Further, it deletes / moves the usage data depending on the status of the respective acknowledgment file. For details about compiling this sample, refer to Building the API Samples section in the Samples Readme document.

NOTE   As a software vendor, you must ensure that the sample is available to the system administrator for deleting usage data. This method should be used only when it is absolutely necessary.
