Managing Features

A feature is a functional component in your software application that can be licensed. A feature can range from specific functionality, such as Print or Export, to a module, or even to an entire application.

After you define at least one feature, you can add that feature to Product. This enables you to sell a product with one or more licensed features.

Features Tab

You manage Features on the Features tab.

To open the Features tab:

Select Catalog > Features. The left pane displays a list of all Features and provides the following information about each Feature:

  Feature The name of the feature.
  Feature ID

A unique integer value that identifies the feature.

NOTE   The Feature ID on the GUI maps to the value in the FTRIdentifier column in the T_FTR database table. To extract feature details by providing a Feature ID (using a web service), the user needs to fetch the FeatureID corresponding to the FTRIdentifier for a specific record in the T_FTR database table.

  Ref ID 1 A feature identifier in another system, for example, a feature code in your company's ERP system.
  Status Indicates whether the feature is included in a product.
   
Deployed. The feature is included in at least one product.
Not Deployed. The feature is not included in any product.
Obsolete. The feature is marked as obsolete and cannot be added to a product. Obsolete features may still be included in existing products.

Tasks for Managing Features

Before performing any of the following tasks, you need to specify the Batch Code for the features that you want to view or manage.

1.In the Features tab, select the required Batch Code from the Batch Code list. The Features for the selected Batch Code are displayed.

2.Perform the required task.

New Feature

Define a new feature and its properties.

Edit Feature

>View the properties of the selected feature.

>If the feature is not currently included in a product, edit these properties.

 >  Obsolete/Restore

Make a feature obsolete or restore a feature. You cannot add obsolete features to a product. Obsolete features may still be included in existing products.

> Delete

Delete the selected feature. Available only if the feature is not currently included in a product (not deployed).

Filtering and Searching the Features List

1.In the Batch Code list in the Features tab, select the Batch Code in which you want to search for the Feature.If only one Batch Code is available, the Batch Code is displayed instead of the list.

2.Specify a search criterion, such as, Feature Name, Ref ID 1, or Ref ID 2.

3. Enter a complete or partial search string in the search box. For details on the types of searches available, see Wild Card Search.

NOTE   Wild card searches are not supported for the E-mail Contains criterion.

4.Click Search. The relevant search results are displayed.

Viewing the Details of a Feature

To view the details of a Feature, in the Features tab, select a Feature from the left pane. The details are displayed in the right pane.
