User Types and User Roles in Sentinel EMS

Sentinel EMS is a role-based application. The functions and tasks that you can perform are determined by the user type and user roles assigned to you by the Sentinel LDK Administrator.

The following user types exist:

>Vendor

This is a Sentinel EMS user within the software vendor's organization. The access rights and functionality that are available to each user are determined by the specific roles that are assigned to the user.

>Channel Partner

This is a Sentinel EMS user in a channel partner's organization. This type of user is limited to a range of activities that relate to the specific channel partner.

NOTE   The roles, access rights, and functionality described in the following sections are not relevant for users of the Sentinel EMS Customer Portal.

The roles, access rights and functionality for the Vendor and Channel Partner user types are described in greater detail in the sections that follow.

Vendor

The table that follows describes the roles that can be assigned to a vendor user. The Sentinel EMS Mapping column lists the user type attribute and the minimum role permissions you need to select in Sentinel EMS to assign the role to a user. Channel Partner User

A Sentinel EMS user that is associated with a specific channel partner is referred to as a Channel Partner user. A Channel Partner user can view and activate entitlements.
